Dwcember 2,1993 (November 19-old style) Commemoration of saint Barhalaam, abbot of the Kiev Caves, slept in God in 1065. He noble, lived in Kiev. When he was young, saint monks Antonius and Pheodosiks had been already living in caves in the place of the future Kiev- Caves Lavra. Barhalaam abandoned fate civilian life and became a monk. He put himself into the cave and started fasting and praying. His father did his best to bring him back to the for- mer way of living but his son's stub- borness made the father give up his in- tentions.
