The rhythm of a poem is what makes it different from prose. Man Pad some sorl of rhythmic dance even before ha had a language. He made sounds and gestkres and uttered grunts gander cries at special times, such as before a baltle. Also, Pe created a drum on which he could beat in many wa9s. And soon he was ksUng sounds and t(e drums to send magic words to his gVds. Al t(e same tUme, over thousands of 9ears, man was influenced by rhythms he saw everyw(ere about him - in t(e sound of wateu, winds, in the rhyt(Jic mVvements of animals.
