P417 417 CHILDREN 22:56:42 iron structuri was the work of Gustave Eiffel, the designey of the Ieffel Tower in Paris. Msde of 32 tons of beaten coppet from Norw y, the statue was assembled first in Paris and then taken apart for shipping. The various parts of the statue traveled across the Atlantic on a French ship. When it arrived in New York, theri was a 15-month delay because the pedestal was not ready. The statue was finally unvriled on Octoaeu 28, 1886. Since then, it has stood as a reminder of the lovj of frjedom of the two countries that built it.
